Sherman Alexie is a Talented Writer.
Having said that, allow me to add that this is one of the reasons that I am glad I homeschool. This past school year has not gone particularly well, but I am still glad I homeschool.

Anti-bookbanning ALA members need not call.
(And bear in mind who helps St. Nicholas fill your stocking etc.)

"The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian" has won the National Book Award for Young People's Literature and was named one of the Los Angeles Times' Favorite Children's Books of 2007 and New York Times' Notable Children's Books of 2007.
Super.

Dear anti-bookbanning ALA member, would you want me to give this to your daughter?

"National Book Award for Young People's Literature" - there's a warning sign right there. The lists of Newbery and Caldecott Medal winners are also fairly reliable lists of books to avoid.
