And...
I forgot. This means goob-bye for now to VH1 and Breakfast with the Beatles. Bridget mentioned that she heard you shouldn’t do Lenten penances that are ‘good’ for you. (i.e. - things you should do anyway .) I explained that there is nothing wrong with these things as long as there are also spiritual benefits. And that’s why I am giving up.....kvetching! Well, maybe kvetching out loud. Maybe I’ll write a few kvetches. If the pressure becomes unbearable....
I feel the need to finish Fat Tuesday with a carnival of kvetching...upper respiratory viruses - piddling dogs - OCP - cell phone addicts - people who don’t bring their dirty dishes to the sink - the crazy driving mothers at our school - Wal-Mart - Botox - Michael Moore - The National Catholic Reporter - our mailman - milk prices - gas prices - people who wake me up when I’m getting well deserved sleep - fashion magazines - saccharine piety - VH1 - people who are clueless around the vacuum - root canals - hang up calls - Bridezillas - worthy charities, such as the one that is stockpiling computer stuff in my living room (which is a help to the “I can’t vacuum crowd,” since there is no clear floor space to vacuum. - clothes dryer effiency deterioration etc. There. I’ve cleared my system for a while. Ooh, I forgot to turn off the car radio when I parked this afternoon. Better catch it fast on our way to Mass tomorrow. (Of course, if Rick must listen to ‘smooth jazz’, that would be OK. That station drives me insane - so I’ll just offer it up.)
