Waiting...
to see further info on the supposed case of bubonic plague in NYC.
I read a good book about a year ago - In the Wake of the Plague - which was quite fascinating. For a while I considered myself to be the neighborhood plague expert, but now the details are getting sketchy.........I don't think it is highly transmissable (if at all) on a person-to-person basis. I think you really need those rats with fleas. This may be one of those times when a disease becomes on object of fear to keep our mind off of the things that are a more imminent threat. West Nile virus is pooping out in our part of the country (those darned mosquitoes just can't hack the frost!) so I can see people obsessing about breaking out in bubos while they should be worrying about flu shots and frequent hand washing.
