Dear Reader,
Surely you jest....

A reader politely enquires as to my disgust with the box of condoms left behind by the homeless man living out of the church basement. If you are reading a Catholic blog, may I assume you have some working knowledge of the Church’s teaching on sexuality, chastity, marriage and the faulty logic behind artificial contraception.

If that’s not enough to convince you, there is another flaw in the latex armor of ‘protection’....

The Bush administration is considering requiring warning labels on condom packages noting that the contraceptive devices do not protect users from all sexually transmitted diseases.
Most recent studies indicate that condoms do not safeguard against human papillomavirus, or HPV, a widespread sexually transmitted disease that, untreated, can cause genital warts or cervical cancer.
Package labels now say that condoms, if properly used, reduce the risk of AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases. The labels don't address HPV.
