Am enjoying Bee Season by Myla Goldberg for my light reading. Having had some spelling bee aspirations, but without the success of our heroine, I find it touching and entertaining. I, too, went through I time when I had a compulsion to spell every thought that passed through my head. ( I was laughing out loud when I read a passage in which the young spelling queen meets a member of her cantor father’s congregation and she must fight the temptation to spell U-N-C-I-R-C-U-M-C-I-S-E-D out loud.)
