A Triskaidekaphobic Friday Five
1. Are you superstitious? No. Not really. But I guess I do some quirky things that could be considered superstitious.
2. What extremes have you heard of someone going to in the name of superstition? I had a friend that returned a Perdue roaster to the Jewel when she got it home and realized that the weight was 6.66 lbs. And then there is my husband’s nerve grating habit of wearing blue pants and his orange shirt (to Church, no less!) on Sundays when the Bears are playing. And we can all see how much good that has done.
3. Believer or not, what's your favorite superstition? Can’t think of one. I know it’s not wearing a gaudy outfit to support a disappointing sports team.
4. Do you believe in luck? If yes, do you have a lucky number/article of clothing/ritual? Not really. Some days I believe in ‘unluck.’ You know, those days when I feel like a Trick-or-Treating Charlie Brown going from house to house saying, “I got a rock.”
5. Do you believe in astrology? Why or why not? No. And I studied how to really draw an astrological chart in one of my religious studies courses in college. What did I learn?
a - my parents were too indulgent with their tuition money.
b - my school was wacky
c - astrology doesn’t ‘work’
and to top it all off....
d - serious astrology is a lot like math. Lots of calculations and head scratching. I should have taken that as a bad omen.
