You Can’t Make Up.........
something this funny. Jeff Miller gives his reflections on the Sisters of Divine Providence and some ‘helpful’ classes that they offer.

His mention of their use of a quote from the Dalai Lama as a motto just opens the door for me to rant a little. It is worrisome when Catholic groups must dredge up quotes from outside of our tradition.............not to imply, of course, that non-Catholics never have anything true to say. But it is suspect when we ignore the wealth of wisdom in our own Church and grab something from elsewhere in a lame attempt at looking ‘groovy.’ There is a pastoral associate at my parish who promotes her programs with all sorts of ‘groovy’ quotes. My favorite is Ninon de Lenclos -
the French courtesan. But we could say whore, too, right? So what’s this doing in a Church bulletin? I haven’t bothered to complain. I did that once, with the same person, and it turned ugly. Incredibly ugly. She called me at home and went ballistic. Incredibly ballistic. Now I have to see her when I’m at work. I’m civil. And I don’t think she knows who I am...........
